    Dr. Janke


    Dr. Janke grew up on a dairy farm in Kansas. He graduated from Kansas State University, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. After graduation he worked in Sedalia, MO for 2 years, a practice in Northeast Kansas for 2 years, then came to Rolla in 1989. In 1991, he purchased Forum Drive Small Animal Hospital. In 1996 he built the Rolla Animal Hospital.

    Dr. Janke and his wife Kim have been married for 30 years and have 4 children and 2 grandchildren. When he is not working with animals, he enjoys spending time with his kids and grandkids.

    Dr. Jessie Melton


    Dr. Melton grew up in Edgar Springs, MO on her family’s cattle farm. She graduated from University of Missouri - Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine in May, 2017. Before vet school, she loved spending time volunteering with local rescue groups and animal shelters. She also spent time volunteering at the Rolla Animal Hospital and is very happy to be back full time as a veterinarian. Dr. Melton loves working with all species, and she has special interests in exotics and animal nutrition. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Joe, and their pets (4 dogs, 2 cats, a horse, and a ball python).
  3. Kathy



    Kathy was born in Middlebury, VT; primarily raised in Madison, WI and moved to Rolla from Oak Ridge, TN in 1985. She began working here in November of 1998. Kathy works as a receptionist and takes pleasure in serving people with their pet needs, as well as working with her co-workers and Dr. Janke. She is also our resident pocket pet pro. Outside of work she takes care of her own pets. She has 11 dogs (Labradors, Spaniels and Chihuahuas), 1 cat, 2 rabbits (Holland Lop and Mini Lop), and 10 gerbils. She also enjoys walking on a regular basis.
  4. Shannon


    Office Manager

    Shannon grew up in the Rolla/St. James area and started working here as a high school student in April of 2002. Her favorite thing about working here is the diversity of tasks we do - no two days are ever the same. Outside of work she spends time with her husband and their two kids, enjoys biking, camping, and taking care of her own animals. She has horses, dogs, cats and chickens.
  5. Christina


    Veterinary Technician

    Christina grew up in the Rolla area, began volunteering here in September of 2003 and was hired in July of 2004. Her favorite things about working here are assisting the doctors in surgery and helping injured animals. She is married and has two girls and one boy. Along with spending time with them she enjoys outdoor activities, raising orphaned puppies and taking care of her own pets. She has a Great Dane named Bruno, a Labrador Retriever named Ranger, and 2 cats, Ms. Graisley and Jack Jack.
  6. K.J.


    Registered Veterinary Technician

    K.J. was born in Canton, Ohio and moved to the St.James/Rolla area in 1998. She attended the Vet Tech Institute at Hickey College in 2008 and graduated with a Specialized Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology. She is a Registered Veterinary Technician that has been working at Rolla Animal Hospital since 2009. K.J.’s passion of the veterinary field started while she was young, from watching and learning from her aunt who also shares the same love for animals. K.J. has helped start a cleft palate network called Small Miracles Cleft Palate Puppies for animals after raising several of her own. Along with the help of her friends, co-workers and special rescues, she has been able to save many pets with cleft palates. Her favorite things include: nursing hospitalized animals back to health, surgeries, educating clients, and orphan puppy/kitten care.

    In her off time, K.J. enjoys watching sports (Ohio State Buckeyes Football, Pittsburgh Steelers, & Cleveland Indians) and spending time with her siblings. K.J. has raised several of her own special needs pets. She has a one-eyed Great Dane with limb deformities named Princeton, an English Bulldog (with cleft palate) named Bria, a French Bulldog (with cleft palate) named Ezra, a beautiful tortoiseshell cat name Mila, a miniature pig (with cleft palate) named Piper, and 2 male goats named Mrs. Rodriguez and Rogelio.

    Veterinary Technician

    Clancy grew up in Rolla, Missouri. Clancy’s love of animals came from her parents who always had pets. She grew up watching her parents train German shepherds for police work. Clancy has been working in the veterinary field since 2013. She has a heart for special needs and orphan pets. Clancy helped start a cleft palate network called Small Miracles Cleft Palate Puppies for animals after raising several of her own. Along with the help of her parents, co-workers and special rescues, she has been able to save many pets with cleft palates. Clancy has been with Rolla Animal hospital since December of 2014. She loves helping in surgery and dealing with the least friendly patients, also comforting sickly patients in need. Clancy has several pets including: an Olde English Bulldogge (with cleft palate and lip) named Keisel Bane, a Toy Australian Shepherd (with a bum leg) named Toula, a rambunctious Great Dane named Kaiser, a bottle-raised cat named Khloe, an orange cat named Chandler, and loves her chickens.

    Veterinary Technician

    June joined the Rolla Animal Hospital staff in 2006 with 20 years of experience in working with veterinarians. June and her husband, Gene, have 2 cats, Rascal and Olivaw. June’s mom and her dog, Mikey, also live with them. June likes all animals, but she has a special affinity for cats.

    Veterinary Assistant

    Catherine was born in San Bernardino, California. Her parents took her down under to Sydney, Australia, and her family lived there for roughly 3 years. Catherine enjoyed being at the beach, going to the zoo, and experiencing the different cultural traditions. Once her sister was born in 2005, Catherine’s family moved to Auckland, New Zealand. Most of her schooling was completed in the suburbs of Auckland, and she made many friends of many cultures. Catherine loved to hang out at One Tree Hill Park. It is the best place to go to see cows and sheep roam around and interact with them. Catherine’s family came to Rolla, MO in 2012, and Catherine acquired her high school diploma in 2015. Soon after, she took an online course with PennFoster, completed her internship with Rolla Animal Hospital, and gained her Veterinary Assistant diploma at the beginning of 2017. On April 3rd, 2017, Catherine was hired as vet assistant. She visits her family dog, Jazzmin, when she has time. She recently took in her first kitten and named her Stella. Catherine enjoys helping the doctors with vaccination appointments, and she conquered her fear of needles and enjoys giving pets their vaccines and helping with surgery preparation. Catherine carefully monitors each pet through anesthesia and gives them lots of love while they recover.

    Veterinary Assistant

    Alisha was born and raised in Rolla, MO. Growing up she always had a love for animals and helping take care of sick animals. She had two dogs named Oreo and Duke growing up. Along with her family, she helped take care of two horses, Red, and Ty, that were left behind by their owners in her neighborhood. She now has a 4 year old Goldendoodle named Libby. When Alisha isn’t working at the Animal Hospital, she works part time at Kroger. And in her spare time enjoys taking hikes with her fiancé, Barry, and her dog Libby. She was homeschooled and graduated with her high school diploma in 2016. In early 2017 she started an online Veterinary Assistant Program with Ashworth College, started an internship at Rolla Animal Hospital, and was hired on as a Veterinary Assistant in November of 2017. Alisha enjoys assisting the doctors during appointments, giving vaccinations, drawing blood, and comforting ill animals.
